Britain’s Youngest Carers

1 x 60’ - Channel 4 - Producer (self-shooting)

Oritsé Williams of the popular boy-band JLS, has been a dedicated carer for his mother, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, since he was just 12 years old. Now, nearly two decades on, he is still responsible for her care. Britain’s Youngest Carers follows Oritsé as he uncovers the often-overlooked reality of the over 700,000 young carers across the UK. These young people, many of whom juggle school, work and family responsibilities, are running households and providing essential care and medical assistance to parents and loved ones. The series sheds light on the huge impact this responsibility has on their lives and the challenges they face balancing their own futures with their caregiving duties.
